Watercolor Art by Tracee Murphy

This weekend I had the pleasure of spending most the weekend with my fellow watercolor artists from the Watercolor Society of South Texas. We got together and shared a booth at the Festival of the Arts in Corpus Christi. We sold our work for $20 each and it was a great way to make some extra cash. It was a very successful event for all who participated and we all had a good time!

This week I will be listing what I have left in my Etsy Store. Please visit my store for more info on the painting you see here. One item will be added daily.

The Oldest House in Town

Heronkate  20x24 inches $250.00
This is a painting of the oldest house in Pittsboro, NC.  It is locally known as the "Yellow House" and it was built in 1787 by Patrick St. Lawrence.
It can be purchased on my Etsy site.

New Mixed Media

This new piece, titled Mapmaking, is a 19" x 22" original on heavy rag printmaking paper. The image was created with layers of paper collage, conte drawing, acrylic, gouache, and charcoal pencil. It is available in my etsy shop for $175.

Neighborhood Girl - ACEO Easter

I have been doing the Neighborhood Girl series for a long time. I can't remember what number this is. I enjoy doing them because I get to look back at my childhood with my sisters. That is the best part.
This and more aceo's can be found at my shop Sixsisters.

Think Spring

Oh, I'm trying so hard to see that spring is officially here...but I"m still wearing winter coats/vests and the temperature is still lingering in the fifties. Most of the snow has melted, but my gardens are wet sponges that are brown and barren. Soon right? Soon it will be spring?

Spring...

has sprung, no doubt about it. Frogspawn in the pond, and those clear, blue skies...which inspired this mixed media painting, new in my shop today. Spring is a small, original mixed media piece that reflects the joy and energy of Spring!

Like most of my work, the piece is full of texture, both from the paint and the recycled paper that was added to the canvas before I began to paint. The close up image gives you a good view of all that lovely texture; click on it to make it full sized, for a proper view!

You can find more images and information here : hope your spring is as joyful as this painting!

Posies measures 6 X 6 inches and is on hardboard. It is available at Sixsisters.

Framed Print

Hello Everyone!

I finally found a wonderful printer to do the quality of work I wanted to reproduce my work. Here is one framed. I just love it!
It will be posted in my shop hopefully today! Let me know what you think.
Love and Peace!!

New Work

These are my two latest original paintings - both are 5 x 5 x 1.5", acrylic paintings on canvas.

I've done a few of these small canvases lately - they look great grouped together.

I've wanted to do a chrysanthemum on deep red for a while - you know when you have something in your head until you can get round to painting it?

The white feather is a motif I tend to use a lot, and comes from the saying that if you find a white feather, it means an angel has passed by! Both paintings and more are available in my Etsy shop.

This is one of my newest oil paintings titled "Palm At Kualoa". Chinaman's Hat is a well recognized landmark on Oahu, Hawaii, but did you know that it's actual Hawaiian name is Mokoli'i ?

Please visit my blog (ISLAND DREAM LIFE BLOG) to find out the interesting Hawaiian Legend behind how this "lizard dragon" island got it's name.

I just uploaded a bunch of new paintings. This one, in particular, I sent over to InterfaceLIFT.com and it got accepted as a wallpaper! It's gotten some mixed reviews, but it's a step toward getting out there, having my work be more visible, and I'm happy about it.

"Early Morning" Print

Now Available in my Etsy Shop: a 5x7 print of "Early Morning" which is a reproduction of a soft pastel painting on velour paper.
Aloha from Kauai,
Marionette

Red Tulips

I'm trying to absorb some abstraction and expression into my painting. To add more life and colour than a naturalistic impression might allow. I love pattern, colour and painterly-ness, and hopefully I've managed to capture some of that in my latest painting. Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

My Exhibition UTOPIA

I had a recent exhibition here @ Ronak art gallery, Mumbai,i met fellow artists, art collectors, frds from college days, well-wishers, family, loved ones....The topic for all those 8 days was ART, GOSH......i explained what i did, y, what got me inspired...it was a WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL WEEK, SO THAT WAS THE TOPIC, FROM TURBULENCE TO TRANQUILITY, BLISS, DAILY CHORES, TOGETHERNESS, UNISON, PEACE, A MESSEGE THAT ALL MY PAINTINGS CARRIED....i loved it, & am delighted to do that, loads of women here in India, do commit suicide, due to supression, lack of education, joint families, money, in-laws...etc& i just wanted to give the messege of educating one's self, help, care, share, & to voice their opinions, so it can be like by voicing your opinion, you are helping yourself, hence helping the family, the society, & the nation by large......
A crtics anylisis
Hi ,"The Critic has to educate the Public,
The Artist has to educate the Critic" Oscar Wilde.
Well i m not that expert to comment on ur paintings but yet some angle frm my point of view ur Silhouttes of women is striking in their honesty. In their whitted simplicity , rendering cynical feel suggesting our safe havens are rarely as benign as we presume. A medic looms over an unconscious women who in her docility implies certain level of victimization, leaving one to wonder.....Ur landscape surpises me of ur potray as silver sun effect is somethig wimsical ....
Thats all keep it up!
Success always at ur footsteps

Fond regards, Have a lovely day, Rukshana Hooda

Lobster and Kelp Fabric Collage (ACEO)

Lobsters are kind of a "Maine Thing" and I have enjoyed making fabric art lobsters since opening my Etsy shop. With the passing of the new Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, I voluntarily removed my stuff lobsters from my shop until the regulations--and the interpretation of those rules--become clearer.

As a result, I have been fiddling with lobster designs for my fabric ACEOs and think the design pictured here has potential. The idea is a lobster swimming over a bed of kelp (seaweed). I like the idea of an underwater view.

Dionisio Point

I posted three new paintings today, two that I finished from sketches created on a 2006 trip to Galiano Island, in the southern Gulf Islands off the east coast of Vancouver Island.

I sat on these rocks overlooking Porlier Pass and sketched as the tide came in. I always carry a small moleskin notebook with me when I'm travelling, so that I can refer to both it for notes and my sketches later. This was a long hike each way through private land, that wasn't supposed to be accessible, but the kind locals let me in on the secret path.

I love this part of Canada and hope to return for another painting trip some day.

"Texas Morning" by Becky Brocato

A rusty tin roof, a split rail fence, big Live Oak trees, a dusty rose sky. And a field of dew-covered Bluebonnets. This is a sight that is all too familiar to early morning travelers who choose the backroads and farm-to-market byways in the Texas Hill Country. It is Springtime in Texas!

Printed from one of my small original Texas Landscape watercolor paintings, this open edition reproduction is available in my Etsy shop.

Measuring Raindrops (Archival Print of an Original Mixed Media Painting)

An industrial scene in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside. For me though it’s a romantic place. It was until recently my favourite destination for a bike ride - a weather station at the top of a nearby hill on the way to Haworth. Its job at one time was to measure the size of raindrops and the brightness of the stars in the sky. How romantic is that?! Someone thought it was an eyesore though and just after Christmas it was demolished. I feel pleased to have celebrated it with paint and collage. ( Please click on image above to enlarge )
The original is available for sale from a gallery ( nTama Gallery, Todmorden, W.Yorks ) but I recently listed a reproduction archival print in my Etsy Shop: http://www.kateboyce.etsy.com/

This acrylic painting has the beautiful look of watercolor. It is approximately 9 x 12 and will look great with a mat that has an opening of 8 1/2 x 11 1/2. Find YOUR Jungian Archetype II

According to Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, archetypes are innate universal psychic dispositions that form the substrate from which the basic themes of human life emerge. Being universal and innate, their influence can be detected in the form of myths, symbols, rituals and instincts of human beings. Archetypes are components of the collective unconscious and serve to organize, direct and inform human thought and behavior.

An original abstract expressionist painting inspired by Carl Jung. In my previous career as a psychiatric RN I worked with a well known psychiatrist who lived and breathed Carl Jung. I find my previous work still heavily influences my paintings

New Colors on the Horizon 24x36 Original Painting - Happy 1st of Spring.

Modern Abstract with a bit of Whimsy to celebrate the first day of Spring. Bright green hues with hazy yellow and dark brown and red make up the horizon background while colorful geometric lines, squares and circles adorn the horizon. A colorful abstract meadow along the horizon.

Paintings measure 24x36 inches and is stretched onto 1.8 inch deep stretcher bars.

Please visit my etsy shop for more original paintings, framed prints, framed tiles and jewelry.

New 40x30 Minimalist landscape - Sunshine Horizon Glow

Newest Minimalist Landscape Painting "Sunshine Horizon Glow" just finished. It's cold and damp in Philadelphia today, but the painting that I just finished has a nice sunshine and warmth to it. So, despite the bad weather, this painting cheers me up. Warm and rustic with several layers of color. The dominant colors are olive and khaki green, golden yellow, white, brown and red. Although no actual green paint was used in the painting, it appears as such due to the layers of blues and yellows used in the piece. Great depth with gentle hazy glow above the horizon. Large painting with peaceful feel to it.

Please visit my etsy shop for more original paintings, framed prints, framed ceramic tiles and handcrafted jewelry.

Look at Me _ 5ft x 4ft large acrylic abstract tree painting on canvas

By Derek Collins
This painting is listed at my Etsy store for $2800
http://www.derekcollins.etsy.com/
visit my blog at
About this painting:
It has $200 dollars worth of paint on it, No kidding!
It's a lot of fun to paint, but painful, to spend that much on paint.
It's 3D!!!!This painting is painted in a series of layers, it is a many day process. The sky is flat, no texture. The background green trees are really thick paint, 9 ounces of Sap Green paint. The main yellow tree, is 3 layers of thick paint. This progression of thickness from background to foreground, gives this painting a 3 dimensional look. At art shows, people are always asking for permission to touch these thick paintings. The main tree and it's trunk stand out from the canvas. The trunk is smeared on with a palette knife, it is then cut away with the knife to get the straight edges of the trunk. Then grooves are sculpted into the trunk, to simulate bark. 24 hours later, the highlights are painted on. The colors are much more intense in person. The yellow and the red are, IN YOUR FACE, really intense!
