Combining Watercolor Techniques

I create some of my favorite pieces by combing various watercolor techniques. With my 'code" series, I use a resist (masking fluid) to write on the paper, and then wet the whole surface and paint using a wet-in-wet technique. The background bleeds and blurs but the writing - the code- stays clear. This can give the painting an impression that the writing is floating above the page, particularly in this piece, where the blocks of different blues seem to recede and move forward as you look at it.

You can see it in my etsy shop at http://www.etsy.com/listing/40022748/blue-code-3-original-watercolor-painting. There are several other similar ones in the watercolor paintings category: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Artmonger?section_id=6762489

Stellar! Luv the technique combo. The composition looks like its glowing. It reminds me of outer space. It looks like something I've seen on C.S.I. Miami in the lab. LOL

It looks great! I haven't tried this technique myself in a while and you've inspired me to have another go.
