I love to paint poppies. The fields of poppies at the Wildseed Farms near Fredericksburg are beautiful. The bright colors never fail to capture me. This is a small study that I did for a larger painting, it is 8x6 inches. It's painted in oil, lots of texture and thick paint on this one.

The poppies are so lovely! One of my favorite flowers.
Jean,
Love the colors and the way you painted the delicate petals of the poppy flowers! I especially like the hint of the violet color in the center! I haven't had a chance to comment on the blog lately, and when I logged on, yours was on top! I always enjoy your work.
Aloha,
Marionette
Terri,
thank you so much! Yes, they are so fun to paint!
Marionette,
Thank you so much!! I love those little touches of complimentary colors on bright pieces like this.
This is beautiful...I love poppies and have made art of it too...my first treasury was based on poppies...the title was In Fladers Fields...In Canada we honor veterans on November eleventh and In Flanders Field is a poem about how the poppies blow row on row betweem the crosses...they're one of my favorite flowers and this blows me away...I can't wait to start making more myself...
Great job...VAST is so full of talent...
