Iris and Poppies Print of an Original Watercolor Painting

Here is a giclee print of one of my favorite works. It won an Honorable Mention in a juried exhibition in St. Louis. Here is Iris and Poppies, available as a giclee print in my Etsy shop. My prints are created with giclee, pigmented ink on archival fine art print paper. I do not leave a border for the title and signing, but rather sign on the back. The framed print will look like an original rather than a print or poster.

Original watercolor painting floral Iris

Here is Tall Black Iris II, 11 x 14 original watercolor painting available in my Etsy shop. This is a loose, dramatic presentation of my favorite king of the garden.

TWO NEW ISLAND DREAM LIFE PAINTINGS

I finally got around to finishing up two of my
"Island Dream Life" paintings.
The first is "Talk Story"
and the second is "Tutu's Secret Fishing Spot".

"Talk Story" is a fun relaxed typical Polynesian fishermen scene. Two locals spend the afternoon waiting for a bite on the line, but even mo' important, they "talk story". A peaceful setting among the tropical landscape.
Available in my ETSY shop.

"Tutu's Secret Fishing Spot" was painted off and on over a course of about 10 months. I had to be in just the right mood to work on it, and I was so happy with how it turned out, it has ended up being one of my all time favorites. (Click on the photo for a larger image.) I have framed it in solid koa, and plan on holding onto her for a while!

New French Kitties

new in my Etsy shop. http://www.annawadham.etsy.com

Growing Grapes

I am still learning what these materials can do. So far, I am liking the textures of mixing crinkled paper and thread...worth exploring. I am sure different papers (maybe handmade?) would give different effects.

This ACEO is called "Growing Grapes." It has hand sewn, embroidered and woven embellishments. The border is machine stitched.

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals and are 2.5 inches (6.4cm) by 3.5 inches (8.9cm). They can be displayed in a basket or on a small stand, given as gifts, collected or mounted and framed.

More ACEOs and fabric art may be found in my shop.

Fishing for Compliments

http://bit.ly/BSVz0
Fishing, Gators, Pelicans and Swamps are seen a lot in the Deep South. I decided to combine them all in one painting. It was well underway when I realized I had to put something on the hook. Aha! A rose was perfect along with a friendly fish. This is a Giclee reproduction of an original acrylic painting. The image size is 20x18".

Thistle Motif

I was featured today in a new Etsy treasury about Thistles. You can see it HERE.
As you see, thistles have been a frequent motif in my kirigami papercuts. More to come at my shop: www.EmerlyeArtsKirigami.Etsy.com

A couple new additions from me.

The first you may have seen - I've been posting it around the net. The second is a new take on vintage silhouettes. The silhouette is reverse painted on the glass and baked to set. It was really fun to do - hard to get a good photo of though since you have to include the glass!

New from Coat of Paint Studio

"Enchantment"
Giclee Prints of 8" x 10" Oil Painting
I just finished this oil painting and have prints for sale in my shop. This piece was created in a very stream-of-consciousness manner. I let my hand guide the brush, without letting my mind impose an artificial structure. It was a bit like meditation in paint. The end result is a work with an ethereal, mysterious quality. This, along with the unconscious process, led me to the name the piece "Enchantment."

The Huldra

Two new paintings

Summer has brought with it inspiration from gardens and warmth. Sharing with you my two new small paintings.

‘July’ - is the month for celebration, color and heat. Oil on canvas panel 9″x12″.
‘Besamé Mucho’ - oil on canvas panel 12″x12″. Literal translation: Kisses me a lot. While painting, I listened to the song from the CD ‘Jim Hall & Basses’. It was written in 1940 by a young Mexican, Consuelo Velázquez, before her sixteenth birthday.  According to Velázquez, she was inspired by an aria from the Spanish 1916 opera ‘Goyescas’ by Enrique Granados.

Please visit my Etsy shop and blog... and have a wonderful weekend!

HAWAIIAN BIRD DAYS

I have become so fascinated with the little birds that keep me company as I paint outdoors that I thought it would be fun to try and paint a few of their portraits.

Papaya Birds, also known as House Finches, are abundant around our yard, and yes, they DO love papaya! They will peck a perfect round hole right in the center of the fruit, just as it is ripening, eat their fill, and leave the rest. I have to be quick to pick the fruit before they get to them, but occasionally they will beat me to it, (which is ok by me). As long as their sweet little chatty chirps keep me amuzed all day, I don't mind sharing my Papaya with them!

This is "Papaya Paradise".

"JAPANESE WHITE~EYE"

The Japanese White-eye, also known as Mejiro, is native to Japan. It was introduced to Oahu in 1929. It's a common small bird here in Hawaii, found in the city as well as forest areas. It usually travels in small flocks. It is a cute little song bird that slightly resembles the native Hawaiian bird, Amakihi. The difference between the two however, is that the Mejiro has a white circle around the eye, while the Amakihi does not.

These little song birds are plentiful in my yard but I have to be extremely patient (or lucky) to catch a glimpse of them. They are quick moving, always on the search for nectar, insects and fruit. They bring a colorful little addition to my garden, and I am happy to have them around.

Both of these original oil paintings can be found in my

Pen and Ink Witchy Cats

These days I am working more in pen and ink, just because my technical pens are a lot more portable than canvas and paint. I have to create, and pen and inks suit my recent busy life style.
Here we have a diptych of witchy cats with art nouveau style border designs.
You can see more of my pen and ink drawings in my etsy shop as well as a few other artistic creations in a variety of media.

Liquid Series

I just listed a series of digital collage prints. These started out with some over-exposed photos of blue iris, and I was so intrigued with them I began to layer them with other images in Photoshop. I love the colors that emerge as a result of the layered images. I also posted a brief tutorial on how I did these in my blog here.

Here's my latest addition to the blog and to etsy....a fresh magnolia blossom: a symbol of sweetness, purity and beauty. Mainly I love the way the leaves unfurl and shape shift during the brief season.
