Australian bush fires

hi all,
Sorry i have been completely out of the loop here as i have been busy dealing with the bush fires as i have been in the fire zone. Its been a very scary time.To save time i will repeat what i have already posted on etsy . would like some feedback .
Its been a disaster zone here. My friends have lost homes ,families and lives, and its not even quite over yet, as we still have fires very close, we have had to leave our home twice. I have spent the last few days helping one particular family that has been through absolute horror, and i wouldnt believe it if i hadnt gone in and seen their experience etched deeply in their eyes. The mother who is now out of hospital and lost everything, is a beautifully sensitive woman who has been an amazing patron of the arts over the years ( and is an artist). she has lost everything beautiful ( including her husband) in her life. I want to help fill it again with beauty. i have begun this task and myself and one other artist has donated a painting and a silk wrapand a few people have donated jewelery , hand made purses etc.
do you think the vast community would be interested in donating some artsy things to her directly, or to others in our community? Also, there are alot of grass roots efforts of relief for women especially that are by passing the red tape and getting stuff to people NOW. I wasnt sure what etsy community had co-ordinated yet and just saw that everyone is raising funds which is great.
What i had in mind however was that people and the family i talked about could begin to surround themselves again with the beautiful things that furnished their lives, especially things made with love.I will be able to collect things at my wellness clinic and then take to the houses. If more than a few people donated items then i can give over that to the warrandyte group of women who are co-ordinating a care package with "nice"things for people. I KNOW it helps. India Flint who is an a mazing aussie artist has donated a hand made silk wrap and hand dyed and felted blanket. She lost her home in ash wednesday and felt that these type of hand made things really made a difference to her. I just thought it would be good for people to have some hand made items. I know it makes a difference. when i gave my painting over it was more than just apreciated for this person.... its about having something "alive" you know? something that contains love in it.
If you want to send something directly then The clinic adress is : 4 Trezise st Warrandyte 3113 and you can adress it to Fire relief c/o Ember Fairbairn-Ramsay.Thankyou again.

I know many artists are already contributing to OzBushfireAppeal but this sounds good too.

Your full address would be great. I'll happily post your request on my blog & pass it along to friends too

I just posted a note to my other group. I am amazed at the loss of life and my heartfelt condolences go out to all those affected. I, too, have seen the efforts of OzBushFireAppeal.

Thinking of all of you at this time. -kristen
