Emerlye Arts Kirigami

Greetings! I am Cynthia Emerlye, a new member of VAST and I am delighted to be included on such a beautiful and interesting site.

InVermont many of us work more than one job. We call that having several "income streams." I also have several income streams in my art work. In addition to my drawings and paintings, found on Etsy at EmerlyeArts I also am a papercutter. Kirigami, the Japanese folk art of folded and cut paper, is the type of papercutting I love. You may know this as paper snowflakes - but it can be much more. In the winter I cut mandalas and bi-folds. In summer I make three dimensional cards. All my kirigami work is one-of-a-kind. Unlike most paper cutters, I do not draw my design ahead, nor do I use patterns or templates. Each piece is imagined as it is being cut, thus forming a completely unique creation. No two are ever alike. My papercuts can be found on Etsy at EmerlyeArtsKirigami.
Here is a sampling:

Cathedral Angels - 10 inch hand-cut kirigami mandala, suitable for framing.
Birds in the Forest Under a Full Moon in Winter - 8 inch Hand Cut Hanging Kirigami Mandala
Bunnies in the Garden - Hand Cut Kirigami Greeting Card
Three Flower Square - Black and White ink painting, printed as a 5x5 card.
Our Way is Not a Level Path... - 5x7 Greeting Card, blank insideI also post images of all my new work on my art blog, www.EmerlyeArts.blogspot.com. I post nearly every day. I would be delighted if you come visit me.
