The radient reds in this piece show off the interesting, beautiful bark in a unique way. It is painted on an old piece of plywood. I chose the wood for it's great texture - which shows through beautifully and accentuates the depth of the fire - and because I tried to make my Sycamore series an environmentally friendly series by recycling old wood and making it into something beautiful.
This painting is an original acrylic and is approximately 19" wide by 17 1/2" tall.
You can see "Forest Fire" in my Etsy shop here http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15545663
It has a very shiny finish so it was a little difficult to photograph it without a bad glare. The photos outside were taken because I could get some light under the shade of the sycamore tree without as much glare and because this is the tree the bark came from.
This is the second in my Sycamore Art series. (You can see the first one here Sycamore Art )

Really interesting piece! Very eye-cathing on it's own. & your explanation makes me take 2nd look. Very cool!
Lyndel,
I love this one. I've already put it in a poster sketch for a treasury.

Thanks Kae! I'm a little nervous about these new abstract paintings because it si something totally different from anything I've ever painted. But they have been fun to make.
