Hi! I just wanted to thank everyone for such a warm welcome and take a few minutes to introduce myself and my artwork to the other members of vast.
I'm a collage artist from Worcester (Woostah!), Massachusetts. My husband and I moved here in October and I was fortunate enought to participate in a popular arts & craft show here in December. There was a huge Etsy presense at the show and I was convinced after seeing visiting the vendors' etsy shops that I should jump on the etsy bandwagon too. I opened my etsy shop in the beginning of January 2008.
My collage is inspired by a japanese technique called chigirie (torn paper collage). I use mullberry papers, which are handmade papers from Thailand, that I tear into tiny pieces and glue onto canvas panels or paper. I build up the layers to create variations in color and texture in the artwork. My subjects are typically natural landscapes and florals which are complimented by the organic nature of the medium.
This photo is of one of my original collages, called "Marshland" that is currently available at saranoh77.etsy.com. I plan on participating in the "red" project in February and am currently working on some ACEOs that will be added to my shop tomorrow. I'm very excited to be a part of your street team!
